FIRM FOOTING ON A SOLID FOUNDATION.
The removal of a stump results in a hazardous landscape. For sites with heavy foot traffic, a safety fill can limit liability. We use organic chips or premium top-soil to create a level surface and a smooth transition. Organic chips provide a basic layer of protection while premium top-soil primes the area for the addition of seed, sod, or other flora.

We are a full-service stump grinding operation with high-performance equipment that hauls what others can't!
"GRIND-ONLY": As a rule of thumb, a tree stump will produce 2-4x the volume of chip product. If you choose to leave the wood chips, it is important to know that this is a heavy mixture of chips & dirt that can be difficult to move without professional equipment.
While most clients request to have the stump grinding chips hauled away, there are certain cases where it may be more appropriate to leave the mixture.
For example, if the worksite is going to undergo extensive grading, this may be a perfectly acceptable low-cost option.
"SAFETY FILL": We haul the majority of the heavy chip/dirt mixture, leaving a level layer of all natural wood chip & soil mixture where a stump one was.
Why choose this option?
"THE WORKS": All chip waste and surrounding debris is disposed. Two layers of premium top soil are then added to the site.
The first layer is packed & leveled. The final layer of soil is lightly packed and mounded to account for settling that may occur in the upcoming weeks.
This essential solution provides a clear step finish and optimally prepares the site for the addition of seed, sod, and other flora.
Surface roots are more than an unsightly nuisance. They are a tripping hazard and a potential source for re-growth. As part of our clear-step approach, we target intrusive surface roots.

Stump grinding involves using specialized equipment to grind the tree stump down to below ground level, leaving the roots intact. In contrast, stump removal entails extracting the entire stump and root system from the ground. Grinding is less invasive and more efficient, while removal is more comprehensive but can disturb the surrounding landscape.
Leaving a stump can lead to several issues, including attracting pests like termites, posing tripping hazards, and hindering landscaping efforts. Removing the stump enhances the safety and aesthetics of your property.
The duration depends on the stump's size, hardness and debris management requirements. Typically, grinding a single stump can take between 30 minutes to many hours with several rotations of grinding and debris hauling.
The wood chips can be removed from your property or left as a nutrient rich natural mulch for your garden beds upon request. Please be aware that the chips produced by stump grinding are not nicely cut, colored mulch. They are more like shards of wood that may not be suitable for certain purposes or aesthetics.
It is advisable to plant at least a few feet away. If absolutely necessary to plant in the same spot, you will want to inform us of that beforehand, and we will let you know if that location is a candidate. We will grind deep, remove the wood chips and add fresh soil to ensure the new tree has the best conditions possible for growth.
We typically grind stumps 6 to 8 inches below ground level, which is sufficient for most landscaping needs. We can grind up to 12", or even 18" below grade, given the right circumstances.
